Drivin N Cryin, John Moreland, Lera Lynn to perform for Amplify Athens, June 12 at Southern Brewing Company
One-day festival will benefit Family Connections-Communities in Schools
April 28, 2021 (Athens) – Drivn N Cryin, John Moreland, Lera Lynn, and others will perform at Amplify Athens, a one-day festival to benefit Family Connections-Communities in Schools of Athens (FC-CIS), Saturday, June 12 at Southern Brewing Company.
The event will run from Noon – 11 p.m. Event capacity will be limited due to safety precautions; social distancing and mask wearing are strongly encouraged.
Also performing are S.G. Goodman, T. Hardy Morris, Jay Gulley and JoJo Glidewell (formerly of Modern Skirts), Claire Campbell (of Hope For AgoldenSummer), Austin Darnell (of Darnell Boys), and Mike Killeen.
Organizers said all proceeds from the festival will be directed to FC-CIS of Athens, who works closely with schools, social services, businesses and thousands of volunteers to get young people the things they need to learn and grow: mentors and tutors, after-school help, family services to stabilize the home.
Tim Johnson, executive director of FC-CIS, said Amplify Athens has had a major impact on the Athens community. “Amplify Athens benefits have raised much needed funding that supports our work for those in poverty,” he said. “They have raised awareness about our work. They have helped build community by drawing diverse audiences. And they’ve presented some great music!”
Parking is very limited, thus ride sharing is strongly encouraged, and Lyft discount cards will be available as the event approaches.
Amplify Athens is co-produced by Amplify My Community and Troy Aubrey of Aubrey Entertainment.
Amplify My Community leverages the universal love music to support non-profits addressing issues surrounding poverty and homelessness at the local level. Amplify Athens has previously featured acts such as Justin Townes Earle, Shawn Mullins, Patterson Hood, and Futurebirds—and has raised $50,000 in non-restrictive funds for FC-CIS of Athens.
Event sponsors include Nabo Realty, Lenz, Volume, Normaltown Records, Strolling Bones Records, WUGA 91.7/94.5FM, Up ‘N Away Balloons, Franny’s Pharmacy, The Law Office of Joshua Branch, Jonathan Wallace, Procoat Painting, Athens-Clarke County Transit, Flagpole, Peggy & Denny Galis, Hyatt Place, and Team Clermont.
